INVENTORS
  • Incandescent light bulb
  • Thomas Edison
  • January 27, 1880
  • To provide artificial light
  • There was 22 people before Thomas Edison that tried to create a light bulb but none of them were good enough. Edison's light worked better because of several things which were: a more effective incandescent material, a higher vacuum that others could achieve and a high resistance lamp that made power distribution from a centralized source. Thomas Edison had many experiments trying to make the right filament with platinum and other metals. After failing on his tries he used a carbon filament. the first test that worked was in October 1879. He continued to improve his design and got a patent.
